BADEA’s Director General addressed the Arab Coordination Group-OECD/DAC Dialogue on Development

H.E. Dr. Sidi Ould Tah, Director General of the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), addressed, on 27 March 2017, the opening session of the seventh joint meeting of OECD/DAC and the Presidents of Arab Coordination Group in Berne, Switzerland.

 

In this regard, Dr. Tah, gave a presentation on BADEA's role toward the development of the Transport Sector in beneficiaries’ African countries. He also confirmed the Bank's readiness to continue to march towards concrete the cooperation and coordination with the European Union to develop the sector in Sub-Saharan African countries.

On development financing issues, he stressed on the importance of providing the necessary funding to achieve the targets of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, noting that the need for more cooperation and partnership between the Arab Coordination Group and OECD/ DAC.

It is worth to note that the Coordination Group of Arab National and Regional Development Institutions is a collective entity set up in 1975 to provide jointly developing or co-financing major development projects and programs. Its members include beside the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), the Saudi Fund for Development, the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID); Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, the Arab Monetary Fund, Qatar Development Fund and Arab Gulf Program for United Nations Development Organizations (AGFUND).
