N’Djamena hosts the First Meeting of BADEA’s Board of Directors for 2017

The Board of Directors of the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), will held its 1st Meeting for the year 2017, in N’Djamena, Republic of Chad, during the period 8 - 10 March 2017.

The meeting will be headed by H.E. Engineer Yousif Bin Ibrahim    AL BASSAM, Chairman of the Board of Directors, in presence of    H.E .Dr. Sidi Ould TAH, the Director General of BADEA.

The agenda of the meeting includes a number of important issues comprising the approval of a new batch of projects in public and private sector, a trade operation, in addition to technical assistance operations for the benefit of Sub-Saharan Africa countries.

The meeting will also review a number of financial reports including a report covering the fourth quarter of 2016, a report on the Bank’s activities for the period January-February 2017 and the Bank’s Annual Report for 2016.

On the other hand, the Board will review the preparations for the 42nd Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors to be held in Rabat. Kingdom of Morocco, during the period 18 -19 April 2017.

It is worthy to note that BADEA’s total commitments in Sub-Saharan Africa Countries (44), have significantly increased since 1975 to reach US $ 5.295,103 million in December 2016.

BADEA adapts its development financing to countries’ priorities, focusing on poverty reduction, food security, protection of the environment and improvement the living conditions of the population in beneficiary African countries. Therefore, priority is given to infrastructure sector, agriculture and rural development, energy sector, social sector private sector and industrial sector. BADEA interventions also includes technical assistance operations and private sector projects.
