The Arab Bank for economic development in Africa (BADEA) participates in the African Forum for Investment and Business that will be scheduled from 3 to 5 December, 2016 in Algiers, under the High Patronage of His Excellency Mr. Abdelaziz Bouteflika, the President of the Republic. The forum will bring together 2000 businessmen from several Arab and African countries.

The forum which calls for "Work Together to Succeed Together" will open real prospects to intensify commercial exchange between Arab and African countries and to establish investment strategies. The contribution of BADEA in this significance event falls within its objective in developing, enhancing Afro-Arab Cooperation and to encourage trade relationships between Africa and Arab world in the framework of BADEA’s Export-Import Financing Scheme Program (BEFS).

The event is in line with the priorities and vision articulated in the African Union’s Agenda 2063, to intensify, stimulate Intra-African trade to raise the volume of trade between African and Arab countries, prospects for 2022.

The forum will create a dialogue between Arab and African businessmen and will establish sustainable partnerships with African economic operators to apply the expression “Everyone is a Winner”.

The meeting will be also an opportunity for all entrepreneurs, businessmen and African operators desiring to be stakeholders in the African economy revival and create a dialogue between decision makers and economic actors, to talk directly about investment opportunities, in addition to provide a platform for dialogue between African decision makers and Arab economists to propose projects for financing.

BADEA’s financing operations have grown since 1975, to reach about US $ 5174 million by end of November 2016, and have been earmarked to finance 621 development projects, 683 technical assistance operations, 51 loans for the private sector’s operations, 38 foreign trade operations and 14 special operations (in the context of Emergency Aid Programme operations for the benefit of several African countries effected by drought and desertification).

It is worth-mentioning that, BADEA’s operations cover 44 eligible countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, in addition to a number of regional organizations. They cover infrastructure, agriculture, rural development, energy, industry, social, private sector, foreign trade and financial sector in the form of project loans and technical assistance grants.

The projects selected by BADEA are directed towards improving the living conditions of the target beneficiaries, particularly those projects related to rural development and environment, such as rural water supply and sewage, or those aiming at reducing negative impact of drought and desertification, and reducing poverty. This is obviously in line with current approaches to development.
