BADEA extends a loan to the Republic of Niger

A loan agreement of US $ 20 million was signed today Tuesday, 25/10/2016, between the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA) and the Republic of Niger to finance Filingué - Tahoua (Section 3: Inkarkadan - Tahoua) Road project.

The loan, which is to be reimbursed over a period of 30 years, include a grace period of 10 years and have an annual interest rate of 1%.

The agreement was signed on behalf of BADEA by H.E. Dr. Sidi Ould TAH, the Director General and on behalf of the Republic of Niger by H.E. Mme. KANE Aïchatou Boulama, Minister of Planning.

The project falls within the program of the government of Niger for the development of the transport sector in the country and aims to raise the level of the national road network and participates in connecting Niger with neighbouring countries to promote trade exchange between the Arab Maghreb countries and the Sub-Sahara African countries (Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso, Chad and Nigeria).

The project also will contribute to the socio-economic development and poverty reduction in the project area.
