BADEA hosts the 81st Coordination Group Meeting

The Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA) hosts the 81st meeting of the Coordination Group of Arab National and Regional Developmental Institutions, to be held in Khartoum during the period 20 to 22, March 2018.

The Coordination Group includes, besides BADEA: The Islamic Development Bank, the OPEC Fund for International Development, the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, the Saudi Fund for Development, the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, the Arab Monetary Fund, Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, Qatar Development Fund and the Arab Gulf Program for Development.

The Director-General of BADEA, H.E. Dr. Sidi Ould TAH, will be addressing the opening session of the meeting. In his speech, Dr. Sidi will highlight the top priority issues to be discussed during the meeting and the way to enhance cooperation and coordination during the implementation of projects for optimal delivery of development aid and thus help achieving economic development.

The agenda of this three-day meeting includes the following Items: Exchange of information in terms of projects to be financed by the Group; the OECD/DAC High Level Meeting with the Coordination Group. It comprises as well, follow up of a number of papers submitted by the funds will also be presented.

Representatives from International Development institutions will also take part in the meeting. These are the World Bank (WB), International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The coordination Group was set up in 1975 to provide greater cohesion through the coordination of financing efforts and the accompanying procedures with a view to enhance development assistance. It should be recalled that the 74th Coordination meeting was held at BADEA’s Headquarters in Khartoum, during the period 15-17 September 2014. Issues of great importance have been discussed during that meeting.
