Economy

As part of the cooperation between the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), and the Sub – Sahara African countries; a delegation from Burkina Faso, led by H.E. Ms. Hadizatou Rosine Coulibaly/SORI, the Minister of Economy, Finance and Development, visited BADEA's Headquarters in Khartoum from 19 to 20 May 2017.

H.E. Dr. Sidi Ould TAH, the Director General of BADEA, received the delegation, the meeting discussed, among other issues the current and future projects, which BADEA is involved in Burkina Faso, as well as means to promote and foster ties between the two sides, particularly in private sector’s projects and the foreign trade financing operations.

It should be noted that BADEA's commitments for Burkina Faso to date have reached approximately US $ 253 million to finance 65 development operations.

It is worth-mentioning that by the end of June 2016, the total funding of Arab development institutions, including BADEA's assistance, reached approximately US $ 1846 million, by the end of June 2016.

The Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), signed loan agreements with the Republics of: Côte d’Ivoire and Niger.  The agreements were signed on the sidelines of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) 42nd Annual Meetings, that took place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, during the period 17-18 May 2017.

The Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), signed three Lines of Credit for the benefit of two African Banks, namely: ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID) and Coris Bank International. The Lines of Credit were signed on the sidelines of the 42nd Annual Meetings of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), that took place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, during the period 17-18 May 2017.

Details of these agreements as follows: -

The Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), signed two loan agreements with the Republics of: Tanzania and Burkina Faso, and two Lines of Credit to Liberian Bank for Development and Investment.

These loans will help finance development projects in the field of infrastructure, social, (health), private sectors; in addition to external trade finance operations.

The Board of Governors of the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), concluded its 42nd Annual Meeting within the framework of the Joint-Annual Meetings of Arab Financial Institutions, held in Rabat, Kingdom of Morocco, during the period 18-19 April 2017.
