Cooperation between BADEA & African Risk Capacity Agency

A delegation from African Risk Capacity (ARC), chaired by H.E. Mr. Mohamed Béavogui, Director General, visited the Headquarters of the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), Thursday, 21 September 2017.

The delegation discussed with H.E. Dr. Sidi Ould TAH, Director General, of BADEA, the possibilities to cooperate and coordinate between BADEA and ARC in the area of disaster risk management, through helping African Risk Capacity to better plan, prepare and respond to extreme weather events and natural disasters in African member’s countries.

The two parties also agreed to cooperate in the future in the area in disaster risk financing and investments protection to achieve African economic growth especially in the key area of agriculture. In addition, the expected collaboration will also strengthen ARC’s capacity to deliver on its mandate in accordance with BADEA’s regulations and capabilities.

The African Risk Capacity Agency (ARC Agency) was established in 2012 as a Specialized Agency of the African Union (AU) to help African Union Member States improve their capacities to better plan, prepare and respond to weather-related disasters.
